Where has January gone already?
I hope you all had a lovely New Year 2020. You know I’ve never been great with making New Year Resolutions, as according to surveys only a small percentage of people end up sticking to them. Why is this the case? I find that once you miss a schedule, you constantly end up beating yourself over it. You feel like you’ve failed even before trying and eventually give up. It really shouldn’t be this way.
You don’t need to be so harsh on yourself. I believe in taking small steps and if it works, all well and good but if it doesn’t, you always have another day to start afresh. It doesn’t need to be a hard and fast rule.
Therefore, I decided to make mini ‘intentions’ instead. They sound less harsh and not twice as worrisome if you happen to break one (or two!). I mean, you can always start again.. Who doesn’t love that right?! That’s the beauty of life. There are no restrictions, just your willingness to move forward and achieve your goals.
So, with this in mind, I have decided to work on a couple of things which I’d like to share with you all.
1) Restricting impulse buys;
This one has been on my mental to-do list for quite some time. However, this year I really want to focus on stopping myself from purchasing unnecessary things. If you’re anything like me, then a cute makeup packaging or a ‘blogger pick’ might get you to drop everything immediately and make that cheeky purchase. I hold my hands, I’m most certainly guilty to that. Why o why must this happen all the time? 😪
It was only when I was clearing out my room the other day that I realised I didn’t need half the things that were in my wardrobe. There were rails of clothing that still had tags on them, makeup in brand new packaging that hadn’t been used and endless amounts of accessories that I can quite frankly do without. It made me feel so guilty. Even though I’m a lot better than what I was a few years ago, I still realised I have miles to go. So why do we end up accumulating so many things that we never end up using? I thought long and hard and realised not only was it a waste of money but surely a negative effect on the environment. So, as much as I love my retail therapy, I’ve decided I’m going to be very much aware and conscious of my purchases and really set a good foundation on what my ‘needs’ and ‘wants’ as there’s a stark difference between the two.
Hopefully, this will allow me to manage my spending as well as saving for things that I really need as opposed to simply want. I know it’s much easier said than done but I’m living in the hope that by making these smaller changes, I’ll be able to achieve my goal over time. I know its not going to be easy but I’m determined to be better than what I was previously. Wish me luck guys!
I have decided to incorporate a lot of my existing (never worn before) wardrobe into my everyday wear. As I’m so fond of accessories/dresses, I’ll be creating creative ways to style some looks for the new season. I’m really excited to play around with all the different fabrics and prints. So, if you don’t follow me on Instagram, then please do as I share a lot more on my insta-stories.
2) Taking time out for Self-care;
Ahh I’ve always believed in taking time out for some self-love. If you’re not going to take care of yourself then who will? It’s vital that our physical, emotion and mental well-being are in line with each other.
What really jumped out for me was the overall trend for self-care the last couple of years. I was so pleased to see this as not only do we need to rejuvenate and take a break from the noise and chaos around us but it can have such a positive effect on our family and social life. I was highly invested in this one last year and found that once I cut myself away from anything that carried a baggage, I was able to set myself free. It was such a liberating experience as most of the times, we end up holding ourselves back. I felt much happier, positive and only had good energy around me and within my circle. This is just so important.
Even electronics need a break, we are after all humans!
So, this year I have decided to continue with my last year’s intention of taking good quality time out for myself. Whether it’s lounging around in my Pj’s doing absolutely nothing to taking a walk outside. I will continue to do what makes my soul happy and so should do.
3) Travelling and creating memories;
I love travelling and experimenting new cuisines, cultures and customs. Hubby and I were lucky enough to find so many new spots for travelling last year.
Living in Spain is a constant holiday (for us brits with the weather and food dare I say!) but to be able to see different countries was a blessing. We are so grateful for all the travels in the last few years and it makes me very happy to know that hubby enjoys it as much as I do. We aim to continue travelling (even if it is visiting our local Spanish towns on a road trip) or close by countries. We just want to create happy memories that we’ll cherish for time to come.
I really want to discover old world charm/bohemian places during my trips this year. I’ve always had a fascination with mystical, magical and alluring romantic places and would love to continue to discover a lot more. For instance, I’ve been wanting to go to Moscow and Romania for the longest. Perhaps, if I manifest it, it may just come true!
Do you know of any such places, please do let me know so I can add it to my list. I’m grinning like a Cheshire cat already, if only you could see. Haha!
Travelling doesn’t mean you end up spending huge amounts of money on your trips. In fact, most of our trips are always planned in advance and we always compare the prices with lots of different websites/avenues to find a deal that’s suitable for our budget. In fact, I’d love to do a separate post on how we plan our travels and how we look out for the best deals. Do let me know if you’re interested.

So what are you wishing for in 2020? Whatever it is, you can achieve it if you focus on your goal and don’t give up.
Do share below, I’d love to read all about it 🌙
Until next time,
