10 things to embrace in Autumn πŸ‚

Hey everyone!

Woah! Are we in September already?

Autumn is slowly creeping in and no doubt it holds its own charm. It’s the most wonderful time of the year. For me, Autumn is all about new beginnings and change. The new season teaches us to let go. In the same manner that the leaves shed and change colour, we must also surrender, grow, evolve and move through life. It’s the time where I set my intentions and start afresh.

In a very peculiar way it’s about balance for me. The balance of light and dark, old and new, change and constant.. much like the balancing scales of my zodiac sign. Being a Libra, the need for harmony and balance is vital in my life.

Therefore, this season allows us to reflect, change and grow into a better version of ourselves. I love this time of the year as everything seems to be on a lovely pause. You have more time to listen to yourself, hear your thoughts and reflect back on yourself. It’s one those times where things are moving at a slower pace, thus giving you time to spend quality moments with yourself.

There’s something so magical about cooler temperatures, darker days, comfort food, snuggly jumpers, Bonfire-nights, Halloween, scented candles and TONS of pumpkin spiced lattes!! Who is with me?

So with this in mind, I’ll be giving you the ultimate list of things to do to embrace this season..

1) Turn your home into an aromatic autumnal haven;

I absolutely love scents and candles. It’s the perfect way to transition your home from summer to autumn. Fill your home with earthy spice aroma scents (via candles or diffusers which I love!) that instantly get you (and your guests!) into the mindset of all things autumnal, cosy, comfort goodness!

The scent instantly sets you for the fall/autumn mood, creating a cosy atmosphere that you get to enjoy with your loved ones. Better still, why not add fairy lights to the mix. It’s the perfect way to add a cosy vibe to any given space. I usually fill my house with fairy lights and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere in the evenings. They also look so pretty and instantly transform a bland simple room into a gorgeous cosy haven. πŸŽƒ

I did DIY quite a few autumnal projects (wreaths/room decorations) last year but I’ll be sure to share more over the coming weeks. I really enjoy DIY projects and I’ll have some unique ideas for autumn coming up on the blog soon. Keep an eye out! πŸ‘€

2) Get outside – enjoy a walk!

If you’re anything like me, then you’ll absolutely love those brisk walks during this season. With the cold crisp air, crunchy colourful leaves under your feet, the aroma of spice lattes from afar are all the reasons to not miss this beautiful activity.

It’s the ideal time to go apple picking or to a pumpkin patch, or perhaps even find a farm in your area and explore the beauty and the last of the season’s harvest. It’s an ideal family activity. Having lived in Oxford, I’ve been fortunate enough to enjoy these outings. Exploring all the different locations in Oxfordshire meant that there was always something new to do. There’s always so many activities during this new season. I miss those times terribly now that I’ve moved to Spain! πŸ‚

3) Enjoy those festive drinks;

Being an avid caffeine-drinker, I cannot emphasise how much I look forward to the new festive ingredients in the hot drinks. I’m always excited at the prospect of new lattes that are filled with yummy deliciousness of the festive season. Ahem ginger-bread men being my fave! The scent of cinnamon, nutmeg and cocoa just oozes autumn to me. Mmmm Im really craving one right now! β˜•οΈ

P.s – and how quickly do those loyalty points add up. Hello Costa! 😁

4) Carve Pumpkins;

Whether you like to participate in Halloween activities or not, but there’s no denying that pumpkin carving is the essence of autumn.

I used to love carving pumpkins as a child with my younger siblings. We used to pop to our local supermarket, grab pumpkins, carve them uniquely and would stack them up on our windowsill. I used to really look forward to those days!

5) Comfort food;

Is Autumn even autumn without the mention of pumpkin soups and delicious stews. This is the time where I love indulging in my hot soups at any given occasion.

As well as warm soups, I love myself a few doughnuts. I don’t know why but autumn/winter is the perfect time to indulge in a couple of them. Ok a full packet in my case! Ha!

Other activities include;

6) Conker fights (coz why not!) 🌰

7) Extra cosy movie nights 🍿πŸŽ₯

8) Fuelling up on roasted chestnuts (so yummalicious!)

9) Enjoying the bonfire-night spectacle

10) Catching up on your Zzzz 😴

I really hope you enjoyed this post. I would love to know what you enjoy about Autumn/fall. Do share your lists below!

Until next time,

Sheema xo
