This post is going to be a little different then my previous ones.
As I’ve had a few wedding functions in the last few weeks, I thought why not share a glimpse of some of my ethnic wear with you. I had recently purchased this lovely phulkari dupatta above (colourful embroidered scarf) which has been all the rage recently. If you follow me on Instagram, then you’ll know how much I’ve been crushing on this! π
I love that it goes with anything in my wardrobe, it’s the perfect pashmina for ethnic or western wear. I love how comfortable it is despite it being heavily embroidered and can we take a moment to appreciate the lovely artistic work on it.. isn’t it simply gorgeous!
I also purchased this suit (below) from an online store called Diya Online.
It is a beautiful maroon velvet dress that comes with the most stunning beaded scarf that I’ve seen. I must say I was pleasantly surprised as in the pictures it didn’t look as detailed as it did when I received it at home. Oh boy am I glad it was..! π
Gosh, just look at those beautiful beads and embroidered work..!
I’m a huge fan of Afghani/Pukhtoon wear. I love the huge selection of colourful jingly silver jewellery, their handmade embroidered design and colourful clothing. It’s so colourful and vibrant and takes me back to my roots completely. It’s also very synonymous to bohemian fashion which as you all know I absolutely adore. I guess my love for bohemian fashion can be attributed to my pukhtoon roots.
I guess this is the reason why I was instantly attracted to this dress. Even though it’s not the conventional pukhtoon dress but I love how the beautiful deep shade of maroon and gold works so beautifully to bring this piece together. It’s also a fitted dress with a long skirt design which is very Afghani like. The material is just so comfy to wear.
I have a few weddings coming up this winter and this dress will be perfect for it. It’s comfy yet so stylish and regal at the same time. You don’t feel weighed down by the heavy work as it’s so easy to wear.. pure bliss! I literally feel like the dancing girl in the emoticon! ππ»
Here’s a sneak peek of what it looks like on, please do ignore the very close-up shot (and messy hair!) as I was taking the pictures on a frontal camera myself. It was also quite windy! Also I had no photographer as hubby is in Spain so I couldn’t take a full shot of this dress. βΉοΈ
As the scarf is beautifully embroidered, therefore you don’t need much jewellery at all. The scarf itself makes such a statement on its own.
A simple pair of kundan style earrings below works wonderfully to pull this look together. You’ll also recognise these earrings from one of my previous collaborations, if you’d like further details then please click here
They are absolutely gorgeous and I’ve been wearing them to a lot of festivals! Do check it out!
I love how they peek through even when your hair is opened. It’ll look absolutely beautiful when hair is tied up. I adore Trisha’s selection of jewellery so do take a look for yourself.
Finally, I wanted to share this lovely pair of ethnic shoes with you.
I know they are increasingly becoming popular in the western world. As well as ethnic wear, they look absolutely stunning over skinny jeans. I love the vibrant colours and of course pom pom’s are all the rage at the moment!
It was a super quick post. I really hope you liked a few of my ethnic elements in this post, do share your thoughts and your favourite picks!

Hi Gaz, thank you so much for your lovely comment. Welcome to my blog! Yes of course, you can find similar scarves in some parts of Birmingham and South East London (where I got mine from). My sister very generously bought it for me. πThey’re all the rage at the moment, you must get one! ππ xo

The beautiful colors, the vibrancy and made with such great finesse!! …i could see your excitement! Go grab another one asap!!!
Btw… is it pashmina?

Haha we must, they’re so petty. It’s almost in between a pashmina (wool embroidery) and a large scarf, despite all the embroidered work, it doesn’t weigh you down at all.. it’s almost like those autumnal large scarfs, just more vibrant and fun π xx
