Makeup Revolution Golden Sugar 2 Rose Gold Palette – Review & Swatches 🎨

Hey everyone!

What a gorgeous warm sunny day! I am basking in the sunshine as I type this blog post for you. My room window is open, I can feel the cool beeeze and hear the sounds of the birds chirping by. Such a relaxing feeling! β˜€οΈπŸƒπŸŒΈ

I am very excited to bring this post to you. I have been wanting to share this palette with you in ages. Makeup Revolution is probably the beauty worlds best kept secret. The range of products are stunning, rivalling some of the top end brands quality wise and at such an affordable price. They are known to have some of the best dupes for some of the well known brands. Who could say no to this right? I reviewed a couple of the rose gold lipsticks a few weeks back and let me tell you I have been mighty pleased!

If you follow me on my Instagram, then you may have seen a picture of this gorgeous Makeup Revolution Golden Sugar 2 Rose Gold palette on one of my posts.

Firstly, isn’t the name just so gorgeous?! Secondly my jaw nearly dropped when I laid my eyes on the most stunning selection of marbly shimmery (and matte!) colours.. you all know I love my shimmer and this palette is all that and so much more!

What I absolutely love about this palette is that not only is it a gorgeous selection of shimmer and mattes, but what makes it extra special and unique is that it gives off a very ‘baked’ powder feel. I’m sure you all have come across this term in the beauty world. What does it mean exactly? Well it literally means the powders begin as creams, and are baked for a period of time to dry them down to a solid. Therefore, the powders feel very creamy, and give off a velvety texture. It also means that the resulting colours are more concentrated and highly pigmented, which will last you longer.

Before I start talking about the shades, I just want to mention how lovely the packaging is. It’s nothing over the top fancy yet I love how simple and classy it is. The palette is very sturdy and the huge mirror inside is just an added bonus! On a side note, I really find those teeny tiny mirrors so difficult to work with.. don’t you think? This one is a life saver!

It makes for a lovely travel size palette, incorporating your bronzers, blushers, highlighters and even eye-shadows all in one palette. Oh yes, even as eye-shadows..!

Here are the gorgeous selection of eight shades as soon as you open the lid. My eye immediately caught the beautiful shimmery shades in the middle, you all know how much I love my shimmer. Yes I know I’ve mentioned it many times. Ha!

The photos seriously do no justice to this palette. It’s so difficult to capture the true colours in their actual form, you’ll get a much better idea when I swatch them down below.

As you can see, there are a mixture of shimmer and matte colours, I absolutely fell in love with the marbly/shimmery ones. The ones in the middle are my absolute fave!

Here’s another closer look at the palette.

I almost gasped when I opened the packaging to reveal the shades. They have such a lovey happy summery vibe to it. It is almost reminiscent of a holiday kit. The colours range from pinks to golden, champagne to matte browns. It’s everything you need in one complete palette.

P.s – No filters have been used throughout this post, just so that you can see clearly see how the colours look under natural light.

I absolutely love this palette, however I can see myself using this a lot more for my eyes during the summer. I especially love the metallicy warm coppery and pinky tones that will complement a summery eye-look really well.

The metallicy shades are the real heroes of this palette. The bronzed matte shades don’t swatch as well initially as you really have to swirl the brush around a few times to get the build up of colour. However, once you get the right colour it’s beautiful as a bronzer. You just have to remember to build it up with the matte ones.

The third colour from the top is a beautiful highlighter. It’s the right amount of striking yet subtle for any look. As it’s a baked formula or it appears to be, therefore it’s not as flashy which is just so lovely. Did I mention how creamy it is.. it feels like butter on the skin.

Now, sadly none of these shades have names or numbers, therefore I have swatched them one line at a time.

So here’s the swatches for the top line shades..

And here are the ones from the bottom line shades..

I have pink undertones to my skin so I immediately fell for the pinky and champagne toned colours in the middle. Just how gorgeous do they look right? The pink is absolutely stunning, it truly bakes into my skin leaving a gorgeous pinky glow. As I have pink undertones, therefor it doesn’t make me look like a Russian doll in any way but rather leaves a lovely sheen.

I have been using a lot of these metallicy shades on my eyes for the last few weeks, and wanted to wait till I shared it with you all. They looked absolutely gorgeous as eyeshadows, so creamy and pigmented.

I remember using a wet brush and swept the bright golden champagne colour onto my lid for one of the festival looks, it was just so beautifully striking. This is another one of the colours that I have been using a lot. It literally makes any eye colour pop!

Top Tip: For an intense and fierce look, dampen a brush and sweep across the desired colour and apply on the lids. It enhances the colour and the result is a striking bold colour (very Cleopatra-esque!). Say hello to your inner rock star!

When I used the gorgeous champagne golden colour, it gave off a very pigmented foiled look which is so breathtakingly beautiful. It instantly reminded of those Stila foiled eyeshadows, though at the fraction of the cost. Ooooh yes please!

I believe this palette will work with a lot of skin tones, some colours specifically more than the others. It’s just about finding the right colours and blending techniques and you can def make it work. For example, the brown mattes are a little too harsh for my skin colour but if used lightly, it works perfectly.

What I also love about this palette is that it’s multi-functionable. If some of the colours are too light for you, why not use it as an eye-shadow base, if too dark, then use it for contouring. It’s all about finding the right balance.

Additionally at Β£6, you really can’t go wrong. I def recommend popping into your local drugstore and to take a look at this palette.

As I’ve been using this palette continuously since the last few weeks, I can honestly say it’s fast becoming one of my favourite kits. I will be purchasing another one for sure.

I know there’s tons more stuff available from Makeup Revolution and this makes it ever so difficult to not spend some serious £££’s, it doesn’t help that they’re so well priced too. I really need to ban myself from going to Superdrug’s as I literally can fill the basket with all this deliciousness! *sigh*

I really hope you enjoyed reading through this post. I hope the sun is shining as brightly as it is here.. β˜€οΈ
