NYX Lingerie Liquid Lipsticks Review

Hey everyone!

Finally, I managed to get my hands on the very popular NYX Lingerie Liquid Lipsticks!

I have heard so many great things about these lippies and sadly they hadn’t hit the uk (or Spain for that matter) at the time. However, a few weeks ago, as I was casually browsing on the Boots website… Lo and behold, they were staring right at me!

I had to get my family to send me these and so when my siblings were due to come down for their Easter break, they very kindly brought it with them.

So what makes them so popular, I hear you ask?

Well for starters, it offers a great selection/ spectrum of nudes, varying from the very light, rosy pale pink, cinnamon through to the browns. The matte browns are very reminiscent of the 90’s trend that everyone is loving.. Hint hint.. Kylie Jenner!

The Lingerie collection is part of NYX’s latest offering and it follows the liquid to matte formula which seems to be very popular at this point in time. Thankfully, for me I’ve always loved a good matte formula, so I couldn’t be any more excited.

Here’s an excerpt of the product from the NYX website;

NYX Lingerie Liquid Lipsticks..

“Slip into something seductive with Lip Lingerie, our new weightless liquid lipstick with a plush matte finish.

Available in a range of colour-kissed nudes—from cinnamon pink and chocolate brown, to warm mahogany red and classic nude beige—each sultry shade will coat the curves of your lips with irresistibly creamy colour”.

 These lipsticks come in 12 different shades;

Corset – neutral light taupe

Lace Detail – rosy warm pink

Push Up – pinky brown nude

Embellishment – dusty deep lavender

Baby Doll – cool light nude

Beauty Mark – cool brown

Bedtime Flirt – deep rose (darker than push-up)

Exotic – warm brick-ish red

Honeymoon – purple/grey brown

Ruffle Trim – dusty peach

Satin Ribbon – pale pink

Teddy – deep brown

How cute are the names of each lipstick colour? The names tie in with the theme of the collection which is all about being sexy, sassy and sensual!

I wanted to buy all of them (of course who wouldn’t), but I managed to pick the ones that I thought would suit me and the ones that I’d continue wearing even on a daily basis.

I picked out the following shades below, which are Lace Detail, Push-Up, Satin Ribbon and Bedtime Flirt.

Initially, they looked very much similar in colour, but it’s only when you swatch them, do you realise how different they are from one another. The colour range is simply amazing!
Below are the swatches under natural daylight..
From Bottom to Top – Lace Detail, Push-Up, Satin Ribbon and Bedtime Flirt

Formula: it goes on moussey- liquidy and finally settles down as a matte finish. Even though a matte formula can be very drying, you will experience none of this with this product. It can be a tad tricky, as the very light colours can come off as quite streaky but you can correct this during the application stage. I absolutely love this formula as it gives off a velvety finish without looking  cakey or drying!

P.s you can add Vaseline or a lip balm before application if you have dry lips or fear it may look cakey.

Staying power: I have to add, it is extremely long wearing and completely smudge and kiss proof. After I swatched the above pic, it didn’t come off easily at all. No amount of soap or hand-wash proved a success. I had to really scrub my arms hard, it just wouldn’t budge. It slightly faded away on the second day! (Talk about being stubborn!) 😏

Packaging: it comes in a simple glass tube packaging which is very similar to the Kylie Jenner ones. It looks really chic and effortless. I’ve read that many people don’t notice the difference when both the brands (NYX and Kylie Jenner) are kept together.

Applicator: the applicator is a little different to the ones I’ve seen before, it’s a doe-foot applicator which is slightly longer than the usual ones. But it does the job well.

Price: it’s pretty reasonable at £6.50. Great value for money!

In conclusion, I’d say NYX has done a great job with the selection of colours especially the price. The formula is lovely and ever so affordable. The staying power is exceptionable and worth every penny in my opinion. These have very quickly become my go to lip products. (I’m dreading the day I run out of these!) 😕

There is bound to be a perfect nude  or my lips but better shade for every one of you!

Until next time, Ciao

Sheema xx

  2. Oh man, I wish I had some of these. They only just came out here in Australia, and it sold out in every store pretty much straight away. My local store didn’t even stock them! I wanted to give them a go because I have zero good nude lipsticks…I look dead wearing most of them because I’m so damn pale! xo

There’s a perfect nude for everyone out there as they’re warm and cool based tones.. 😍 Honestly it was such a mission for me to find some, as they had none in Spain and my family had to send it to me from the uk 😕 I really wish they bring the same formulation in the other colours as I love pinks and rosy colours.
